The golden key to long health expectancy
Our world is more modern than ever and, as a result, we are living longer than ever before. With advances in science and medicine, this is only likely to increase. But here comes the key question: are we also healthier than ever? Do we spend the extra years with vitality and energy, or are we limited by poor health?
Instead of focusing on life expectancy in years, isn’t it more important to focus on health expectancy, or the time we can spend in good health?
Although aging is inevitable, it does not mean that we should accept that at some point we can no longer live our lives to the fullest. Who says aging has to look like this? We all want to age healthily and continue to live our lives to the fullest, don’t we? Let’s work together on healthy aging and continue to enjoy the life we lead.
Metabolic health: is your metabolism making you older than you are?
Of course you know how your metabolism works! It is simply the process by which your body converts fuel such as food into the building blocks and energy needed for all your cellular processes. In short, it is the key to a healthy and energetic body!
Almost everyone knows two people who are the same age but look very different.
Different people can also appear different ages at the cellular level – this is known as biological age.
Biological age is a measure of how young your cells appear to be, based on how healthy they are or how they function and behave. Your cellular health does not always match your real age. Many people are “older” inside – but the good news is “it’s never too late”! We are born into a wonderful instrument with an amazing capacity for recovery and regeneration. With the right choices, a few hacks and a few tricks, anyone can turn back the inner clock and then even years further back than your biological age.
Lifestyle determines biological age – the choice is yours!
Most of us are familiar with the idea that lifestyle choices affect appearance. Smoking, drinking, excessive sun exposure, unbalanced diet, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, stress and genetic factors can contribute to premature aging. The same goes for biological age. Your Lifestyle choices make a big difference. The same things that we know cause us to look old on the outside cause cells to act old on the inside.
What do metabolism and aging have to do with each other? Think of how a car engine burns gasoline as fuel. The process generates kinetic energy (motion). It also has a byproduct: exhaust fumes.
As your body does its work, creating and using energy, it also creates a byproduct, an outlet of sorts: free radicals. Free radicals are created during metabolic processes. Free radicals have certain purposes, but an accumulation of them can cause oxidative damage, aging your cells. Antioxidants fight free radicals and help prevent oxidative stress, which is part of why eating fruits and vegetables – especially antioxidant-rich ones – is so important!
Are you taking good care of your “engine”?
Many people think that aging inevitably leads to a declining metabolism, but this is only partially true. It is precisely metabolism that plays an important role in healthy aging. A healthy body that functions efficiently at the cellular level ensures that your organ systems receive optimal amounts of energy. By making healthy life choices, you can even improve this process.
Did you know that your cells can behave younger if you pay close attention to your metabolism and how your body uses energy? But the reverse is also true. If you make unhealthy or even suboptimal lifestyle choices, your cells and body systems may experience loss of function that builds up over the years. The result: challenges directly related to your metabolism and lifestyle choices.
So your metabolism has a big impact on your health, and with that, genetics is not the only factor. Although each of us is affected by genetic factors, there are many ways you can positively influence your metabolism and thus optimize your health.
Let’s use the engine metaphor: an old, clunky and dusty engine that has been neglected does not burn gasoline as efficiently as an engine kept in good condition, with regular tune-ups and oil changes. This is how it works with your body and metabolism. By making healthy choices, you can ensure that your engine keeps running efficiently and you maintain a healthy, vital lifestyle, even later in life.
Small “health hacks” can make big change
Your genetics may affect your life and health, but your lifestyle choices make all the difference. Healthy choices can improve your quality of life, while unhealthy choices have the opposite effect. Fortunately, scientific research has confirmed that a nutritious, balanced diet, adequate exercise and good sleep are the basis for a healthy lifestyle. When you work on one aspect of your health, it often has a positive impact on other aspects of your well-being as well. For example, exercising regularly to improve your physical health can also help improve your mental health. It is like a chain reaction of healthy choices that reinforce each other and lead to an overall sense of well-being. For example, a diet rich in antioxidants, needed to fight free radicals and oxidative stress, is also good for your glucose metabolism and overall health. And many of these antioxidant-rich foods are fruits and vegetables, which are packed with additional nutrients and fiber. So small changes in your lifestyle can have a big impact on your health and well-being.
What to do when you have a tasty appetite?
Have you ever started your day with a treat – something sweet that seems to trigger the whole day of wrong eating? Cravings are a force to be reckoned with, especially since it is normal for determination or self-discipline to wane throughout the day. You devote your patience and determination to a variety of situations throughout the day, so as the day progresses it becomes more challenging to hold your own when it comes to health goals. But cravings don’t have to control you, and there are ways to adopt healthy habits easier and longer-lasting than relying on sheer willpower.
You may be tired of hearing it, and I know it’s repetitive, but the place to start is always a foundation of good nutrition. Cravings can be your body’s way of telling you it needs something. This is not always the case, but it certainly can be! And a great way to reduce those kinds of cravings is to make sure you get the nutrients you need.
Unfortunately, modern Western diets leave even the healthiest among us with nutrient deficiencies that we used to get from food. Hence, we need supplements to ensure that we fill all our nutritional deficiencies. The dōTERRA Lifelong Vitality Pack is perfect for supplementing those deficiencies and providing natural support.
MetaPWR™ to the rescue!
The name MetaPWR has multiple levels of meaning. Meta is the beginning of the word metabolic, which is appropriate because the MetaPWR product line is designed to support metabolic health. Meta has another purpose, as the prefix can also mean “all-encompassing” or “transcendent.” Power (spelled P-W-R) can mean “strength” as it is pronounced, while it also means “Personal Wellness Realized.”
MetaPWR Metabolic Blend contains balanced ratios of dōTERRA CPTG Certified Pure Tested Grade® essential oils: Grapefruit, Lemon (Citroen), Peppermint (Pepermunt), Ginger (Gember) and Cinnamon (Kaneel). Intake of LPeppermint oil – a key ingredient in MetaPWR – can be effective in reversing cravings, making skipping unhealthy snacks and sugary treats much easier.
When all five of these essential oils – Grapefruit, Lemon (Citroen), Peppermint (Pepermunt), Ginger (Gember) and Cinnamon (Kaneel) – are combined in the right proportions, something powerful can happen. Preclinical research suggests that this combination when taken can actually reduce the size of fat cells, but more confirmatory clinical research is needed.
When cravings arise, you can trust MetaPWR to come to your rescue. You may find it even more helpful to get ahead of cravings and prevent them from bothering you in the first place. Get a head start by adding one or two drops of MetaPWR Metabolic Blend to your water to drink throughout the day.
The bottom line is that you don’t have to feel like you’re fighting cravings all by yourself. You can reduce cravings and manage them better with the help of good nutrition and MetaPWR.
So what are you waiting for? Make healthy choices and feel more energetic, vital and healthy, both now and later in life!
This is what science says
If you are a bit like me, you also want to look at the facts first, especially before you start working to adjust something as crucial as your lifestyle. Preclinical research usually includes experiments on cells, tissue samples and animal models, such as rodents. This research is done to determine the safety and efficacy of a particular substance or treatment before it is tested on humans. Thus, in this case, the preclinical research suggests that essential oils may be potentially effective in reducing fat cell size, but further clinical research in humans is needed to confirm this.
I have three studies here for you that took place with human participants:
In 2020, a study on the effect of cinnamon oil on reducing belly fat was conducted and published in the journal Foods. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 88 participants were divided into two groups. One group received a daily combination of Grapefruit, Lemon (Citroen), Peppermint (Pepermunt), Ginger (Gember) and Cinnamon (Kaneel) essential oils, while the other group received a placebo. After six weeks, participants’ abdominal fat percentage and waist circumference were examined. The group that had received the essential oils showed a significantly greater reduction in both abdominal fat percentage and waist circumference than the placebo group. Thus, the results suggest that this combination of essential oils may help reduce belly fat in humans. https://www.mdpi.com/2304-8158/9/2/139/htm
A 2018 study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine showed that the use of an aromatherapy blend of Grapefruit, Lemon (Citroen) and Peppermint (Pepermunt) essential oils led to significant appetite reduction and body weight reduction in study participants. https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/acm.2017.0261
Another 2015 study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food reported that using essential oils from Grapefruit and Lemon (Citroen) led to weight loss in obese people. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4690266/
However, it is important to note that more research is needed to confirm these results and that essential oils are not a substitute for a healthy diet and regular exercise. It is also important to note that the studies mentioned do not necessarily include the use of doTERRA oils.
All in all, we can conclude that essential oils can give you good support. Incorporating essential oils into your daily life can be a great way to embrace a healthier lifestyle and live a longer and more vital life at any age. After all, who says you can’t change even in your old age? You hold the key to longer health yourself.
